SMEs may find it helpful to outsource when it comes to IT

25 March 2010 09:36:02

More and more small businesses are outsourcing with IT-related matters, according to the National Outsourcing Association (NOA).

Martyn Hart, chairman of the NOA, stated that outsourcing could be a safer option for small businesses and that as the business grew in size, there would be a greater need for outsourcing.

Mr Hart emphasised the variety of outsourcing options available, saying that many small businesses most likely already outsourced but were not aware of it: "The reason small businesses are the most prolific users is because, for instance, their accountant will do all their books, someone will clean their office, all sorts of things will go on, but they don't tend to consider that outsourcing, it's just something they've always done."

He added that there would be more growth in the IT sector in outsourcing, as small businesses would tend to see it as "the way you actually run your IT".

This is because small businesses can find their IT hard to manage as there would tend to be a limit on their resources. By outsourcing, the business would be able to find someone more qualified in that area that could do the service for them.

"Small businesses are the largest outsourcers ... It is becoming more common," said Mr Hart. ADNFCR-1182-ID-18260387-ADNFCR
