The emphasis on delegation in these pages over the last few weeks has prompted many readers to protest the impossibility of working with their teams. Apparently delegation the Boss To Boss way can be just too big an ask!
You can guess my response – empower your team or perish. If they are not ready for delegation your organisation is not ready to grow. I hear that the people are not ready or not competent, but what I see is that the managers are not ready.

They use the supposed limitations of their teams to resist delegating – normally because they have a misguided view that there is only so much authority to go around. If they give some away there will be less left for them!
