Custard cream is Britain's best biscuit

17 March 2010

A new poll has revealed that Britons' favourite teatime treat is the custard cream biscuit, with more than nine in ten voting it as their preferred choice.

Over 7,000 people took part in the online poll from wheat and gluten free product makers Trufree, with an overwhelming 93 per cent voting for the sandwich-like custard cream.

Taking second place was the chocolatey bourbon biscuit, followed by cookies and ginger biscuits, while digestives lingered at the bottom of the survey with less than one per cent of those polled listing it as their favourite biscuit.

A spokesperson for Trufree said: "We were really surprised at how popular the custard cream is. Despite there being so much to choose from on the market it seems people still plump for a no-nonsense nibble."

A recent study from recruitment firm Office Angels showed that out of over 1,000 office workers, 26 per cent would welcome a return of the tea lady and the tea trolley, with 28 per cent saying that they would be more motivated by their presence. ADNFCR-1182-ID-18258855-ADNFCR
